It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the passing of our friend, colleague, and shareholder, Paul Lamari, who left us suddenly on July 11th. Paul has been an integral part of the WMS team throughout his 11-year tenure with the firm, and he will be dearly missed.
Paul joined WMS in 2012, initially with a very specific role reviewing legal documents within our private investment team. However, it became immediately apparent that Paul’s skills as a lawyer, strategist, risk mitigator and unique problem solver were so valuable across all areas of the business. He quickly grew to become an expert in all compliance and legal facets of our company and industry, ultimately growing into his role as Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel. We were also excited to welcome Paul as a Shareholder in the firm at the beginning of 2023. No matter which “hat” Paul was wearing on any given day at WMS, his number one goal was always to look out for the best interest of the firm, even when that meant delivering an unpopular opinion. Nonetheless, he had such an easygoing demeanor and was a friend to all of us. He genuinely cared about his colleagues and always took time out of his busy day just to check in and make sure everyone was doing ok. We will miss Paul’s contributions to WMS but, more importantly, we will miss our conversations, we will miss his dry wit and knowing grin, and we will miss his friendship. Paul will live on in spirit, will never be forgotten, and will forever be part of the WMS family.
Arrangements are being handled by Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, Silver Spring, MD. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a Maryland 529 College Savings Plan for the benefit of Paul and Kelly’s son, Ford. Donations may be made by clicking on the following link:
