Dave helps guide the direction of investment allocation and the selection of private investments for the firm’s clients. Dave has direct involvement with our clients, overseeing the management of their portfolios. Dave is also a member of the firm’s Board of Directors and Investment Committee.
A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) charter holder, Dave is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance.
Dave is a founding member of the Counsel of Independent Financial Advisors (CIFA). He is chair of one of the Investment Committees for The Associated Jewish Charities and volunteers his time and expertise on various other charitable investment committees in the Baltimore Community. Dave has served on the Advisory Board of Charles Schwab Institutional.
Prior to joining WMS Partners, Dave was Managing Director at CARRET and Company. He also served as Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Wagner Citron Management Corp. David’s professional background began in New York, where he was a trader of futures and options for both Salomon Brothers and Drexel Burnham Lambert Trading Corporation.
WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO PURSUE A CAREER IN WEALTH MANAGEMENT?
Originally, I was attracted to trading (precious metal and currency futures and options). The day to day change was very exciting, but I loved the mathematical relationship with the derivatives and my ability to arbitrage imbalances in pricing. Over time, the relationships I have built with clients and the satisfaction in helping them validates my career choice. It is very interesting that there is never one right answer to a problem; the ability to be creative and solving an issue is fantastic!
WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT BEING A PART OF THE WMS PARTNERS TEAM?
The last word being “Team.” I love working in an environment where everyone gets to utilize their individual strengths in meeting a goal. This is a clear example of 1 + 1 making 3.
WHAT QUALITIES DO YOU POSSESS THAT MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL IN YOUR ROLE?
My ability to analyze a problem in an unemotional, direct way at the same time being empathetic to the real issues a client is facing
HOW DO YOU WANT YOUR CLIENTS TO VIEW THEIR WEALTH?
As a tool to helping them accomplish their goals whether that is lifestyle, family, or charity.
ON A PROFESSIONAL LEVEL, WHAT ARE YOUR BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENTS?
My contribution in helping to build WMS…and I guess, attaining my CFA charter.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE TO DO OUTSIDE OF WORK?
I love to travel and experience other countries. I really enjoy being outdoors mountain biking, snowboarding, hiking and playing platform tennis.
WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE?
New Zealand, maybe the Amalfi coast……so many…
